State of the Art (working title) - by Ken solomon
24 panels will represent the iconography of New Jersey, its history, spirit , landscape and culture.
The piece will span two 80 foot walls
12 panels (shown here) for the entrance lobby and an additional 12 further panels for the second lobby will be created to provide multiple visual and historical perspectives for the viewer.
Each panel is 5 feet x 3 1/2 feet
Watercolor and gouache on paper, mounted on 2 inch deep archival mounting board.
The panels will line the walls along the entrance lobby walls.
The work will interpret New Jersey as images loading through different internet searches.
As they load, the abstract and symbolic colors and images will represent New Jersey past and present and encompasses themes such as :
The piece reflects and preserves the ever-evolving landscape of New Jersey while paying homage to old Jersey, capturing and preserving the Garden State from past to present
I am extremely excited about this project. I feel that 'State of the Art' will give voice to ideas that touch us on a daily basis, a search for sanctuary , a place where we belong and a celebration of nostalgia.
